Random House Mondadori unites some of the most outstanding imprints in Spanish-language book publishing. Literary houses like Sudamericana, Lumen, Debate and Mondadori come together with imprints aiming for a wider audience Plaza & Janés, Grijalbo and DeBolsillo—and with others specialized in subject areas or audiences like the young adult and children’s publishers Montena and Beascoa.
Poetry and fiction, illustrated books, pocket books, practical guides and complete works... make up an extensive catalogue that reflects today’s cultural trends.

In a market where young adult literature often sounds like a school lesson plan, with predictable endings and exemplary models of behavior, Montena has sought a different approach, offering readers books that are not "politically correct." The result are stories that show real life, complete with all the problems and conflicts experienced by young people today; books enlivened by fresh language, extensive use of dialogue and a cinematographic style. These are the principles behind Chicas, a 10-year-old collection that has published close to 70 titles and is set apart by its distinctive design and enticing topics.
But if there’s one thing that Montena is known for, is its line of fantasy novels where international writers —Eoin Colfer, Jonathan Stroud, Isabel Allende—coexist with promising voices from Spain: Grimpow, by Rafael Ábalos, has been without a doubt one of Montena’s surprise hits, selling more than 60,000 copies. Curdy y la cámara de los lores (Curdy and the House of the Lords), by Artur Balder, is a book that absolutely nobody should miss out on.
Montena is also interested in other formats, thus the recent incorporation of Spanish superhero Cálico into the catalogue and the series for beggining readers, "Hadas Arco Iris" ("Rainbow Magic") and "La escuela de Cazadragones" ("The School of Dragon Hunters").
Montena’s titles are edited and distributed in all the Random House Mondadori territories.
